heather hughes is a poet who also works as a letterpress printer. She specializes in printing hand-typeset poetry postcards and broadsides, as well as carving and printing linoblock illustrations. Follow her on instagram for process photos. heather is part of LEAD: Letterpress Educators of Art & Design and was also a member of the Amalgamated Printers’ Association (#965).
For five years, she served as the studio manager at Bow & Arrow Press – a 45-year-old studio at Adams House, Harvard University – where she hosted Open Press Night, taught Intro to Letterpress crash courses and other workshops, and planned special events and programming. Bow & Arrow Press was shuttered in April 2023.
Her commissions include broadsides for the Cambridge Public Library Poetry Reading Series and for the James Webb Space Telescope Art Show 2017, in addition to book launch announcements, wedding gifts, and more.
